This series was published in Koran Tempo, an Indonesian newspaper with nationwide distribution, in November 2009. Prior to this publication, the photo series was also exhibited in the Journalism Photo Gallery, Antara – Jakarta (November 2009); i:Fashion Royal Plaza Surabaya (December 2009); FIXER Community, Ancol – Jakarta (June 2010) and The Jakarta International Photo Summit, National Gallery Indonesia – Jakarta (December 2010).

These photos attempt to portray a different side of domestic workers (housemaids). Because of large number of poor people, most upper middle-class Indonesians employs domestic workers. This is part of the larger informal sector of the economy. When photographed, domestic workers are more often portrayed as the underprivileged. For this series, I took shots of several domestic workers during work. But I also asked them to do a fashion shoot. As the photos show, they presented themselves with their best clothes, which contrast with their work appearances.
